Family stream steps
The Family - Sponsorship Affidavit of Support and the Family - Application for Nomination (AINP 006) are the only applications required to apply through the Family Stream of the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP).
These applications must be submitted together for the AINP to perform a full assessment. Candidates must also include a photocopy of their completed permanent residence application forms.
Please note that if you do not submit a complete application with all supporting documents, or if you do not meet minimum requirements, your application will be returned to you, no file will be created, and no assessment of your application will take place.
The steps for applying to the AINP through the Family Stream are as follows:
- Close family member in Alberta (Sponsor) completes Family - Sponsorship Affidavit of Support
- Your close relative must meet the criteria for Sponsor Eligibility prior to applying to the AINP.
- Your Sponsor must complete the Family - Sponsorship Affidavit of Support signed by your Sponsor in Alberta and witnessed by a Commissioner of Oaths or Notary Public.
- Your close relative must meet the criteria for Sponsor Eligibility prior to applying to the AINP.
- Candidate submits a complete application to the AINP
- You must meet the criteria for Candidate Eligibility prior to applying to the AINP.
- You must complete the Family - Application for Nomination (AINP 006).
- You must compile all supporting documents as requested in the Family - Instructions.
- You must submit the original Family - Sponsorship Affidavit of Support from your Sponsor, your Family - Application for Nomination (AINP 006), and all supporting documents to the AINP. If any requested documents are not included in your application, it will be returned to you.
- You must meet the criteria for Candidate Eligibility prior to applying to the AINP.
- AINP completes an assessment of the Application for Nomination
- Under the Family Stream, the AINP will only assess complete applications from Candidates who meet all program requirements.
- The AINP reserves the right to determine that a Family - Sponsorship Affidavit of Support is invalid if a Program Officer is not satisfied that:
- the close relative has demonstrated sufficiently strong ties to the province of Alberta
- previous Candidates to the AINP supported by the close relative have established successfully in Alberta
- the close relative has demonstrated sufficiently strong ties to the province of Alberta
- Candidates who apply under the Family Stream will be considered for nomination if they are able to satisfy the AINP that they:
- have the required language ability, training, education and experience
- have demonstrated a clear ability and intention to establish permanently in Alberta
- have the required language ability, training, education and experience
- Under the Family Stream, the AINP will only assess complete applications from Candidates who meet all program requirements.
